Day 26, Wiela - Renmark, 7 Nov

Tony

A funny day paddling today – such a variety of sights, I think the pictures tell it well! I pass through some big waterways which are tough work. I’m sick of being in this section of the Murray that’s full of locks, they stop the water flow so I have to paddle every last metre, I’ll be glad once I’m past them but I don’t think the flow picks up near the mouth either!

I see the cliff faces gently turning ahead of me but the river meanders wildly in comparison - very annoying. It’s tiring at the end of the day, so good to land at Renmark and settle down on the beach looking across to Goat Island. It’s really windy and I’m worried Pan’s tent’s going to get blown off the sandbar so we lift it up and place it in shelter behind the caravan.

Distance paddled: 55 km
